Though, in Pakistan the polo season starts from November onwards, but due to sudden unexpected schedule announced by the Federation of International Polo (FIP) regarding the World Polo Championship Zone D Playoffs were to be held from October 06 till October 12, 2014 in Tianjin, China. The team had to be prepared in a very short period of time. Considering the players had been laid off for a long summer break, Shah Qublai Alam did a brilliant job in preparing the team in less than a month, which has been extra-ordinary.

The match between Pakistan vs India was scheduled to be played on October 11, 2014 at Metropolitan Polo Club, Tianjin, China. Though, China was not a recognized polo playing country, but the interest in the game of polo was fast catching the imagination of the Chinese people.

Pakistan came back from 5-1 goals down at half-time to take the lead in the sixth chukkar. India levelled the score but then hit out a 30 yard penalty that would had given them the lead and subsequently won the match. The match then went into a sudden death overtime. India had a shot at the goal first but threw the ball out. Pakistan was later awarded a 60 yard penalty which was converted brilliantly by Mr. Saqib Khakwani to give Pakistan the victory in the FIP World Championship Zone D Playoffs. Mr. Saqib Khakwani was given the award of Most Valuable Player.

Congratulations to Pakistan for their victory in the match against India to qualify from Zone-D, for the Finals of the 10th FIP World Polo Championship to be played in Chile in March 2015.
